US President Joe Biden, while in the UK for the G7 meet, met with Queen Elizabeth on Sunday for tea. Biden said the monarch reminded him of his mother.

“I don't think she'd be insulted but she reminded me of my mother, the look of her and just the generosity,” Biden told Reuters. Queen Elizabeth II turned 95 on April 21.

The Bidens are the fourth first family to be invited to Windsor Castle. In the past, the Reagans in 1982, George W Bush and his wife in 2008, the Obamas in 2016 and the Trumps in 2018 have been invited to Windsor Castle. There have been 14 US presidents during the Queen’s reign so far, and she has met all of them barring Lyndon Johnson.

“She's extremely gracious, that's not surprising, but we had a great talk. She wanted to know what the two leaders that I -- the one I'm about to meet with, Mr Putin, and she wanted to know about Xi Jinping, and we had a long talk,” Biden said. He added that the monarch asked him what the inside of the White House was like.

Biden, at the meeting of Group of Seven’s leaders, called for firm action on China.

The Queen, on Friday, had hosted a reception for G7 Leaders and their spouses.

The Bidens were greeted by the Queen at the Quadrangle of the castle. President Biden also got a Royal Salute from the Queen’s Company First Batallion Grenadier Guards.
