US: Two dead, eight injured in two shooting incidents in Virginia Beach

Biden said he would take executive action to introduce stricter gun regulations

Two people were killed and eight injured in two shooting incidents in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Friday. Among the dead is an alleged male suspect. Some of the injuries are life-threatening. Police officers patrolling the 1900 block of Atlantic Avenue heard multiple gunshots after 11 pm. The shooting took place in the area between 17th Street and 22nd Street.

According to Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate, one woman died of gunshot injuries at the scene.

At another location, a suspect relating to another shooting incident engaged with an officer resulted in the police officer being injured after being struck by a car. “VBPD is investigating a shooting involving several victims with possibly life-threatening injuries. Large police presence at the oceanfront between 17th and 22nd St. Please avoid the area at this time, the Virginia Police Department tweeted. Multiple roads have been blocked a large number of policemen are conducting investigations in the area. Several people are in the custody of the police. But, their involvement in the shooting isn’t clear yet.

After a shooting incident in Boulder, Colorado earlier this week, President Joe Biden said he would take executive action to bypass Congress and introduce stricter gun regulations, Republicans have for a long time, stopped any attempts to enact reforms in gun laws in its tracks.
