It is already known that President-elect Joe Biden will be bringing back dogs to the White House. His wife Jill Biden has hinted that the couple could also be bringing a cat with them. The future first said in an interview earlier this year, “Well, I’d love to get a cat.”

It would be the first time a cat would reside at the White House since George W Bush had a cat named India, who died shortly before Bush left the White House in January 2009. but, it was two Scottish terriers Barney and Miss Beazley who got most of the attention.

Former president Bill Clinton too, had a cat named Socks, while at the White House. Socks would even get fan mail. Former President Barack Obama had two Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny, at the White House.

There have been several interesting pets at the White house over the years. The wife of John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the US had silkworms.

26th president Theodore Roosevelt's six kids had snakes, dogs, cats, a badger and birds for pets.

31st president Herbert Hoover had a possum. 30th president Calvin Coolidge had a racoon named Rebecca that walked on a leash.

The 28th president Woodrow Wilson kept a herd of sheep on the White House lawn during World War I. Since several workers were overseas, the sheep were used for maintaining the lawn, which it did, by eating the grass.
