Fahim Saleh, CEO of Nigerian motorcycle ride-share start-up Gokada, was found dismembered in his Manhattan apartment on Tuesday, media reports said. Saleh’s sister found his body after he did not respond to calls.

According to the New York Police Department, the body had been decapitated and they found an electric chainsaw near the corpse. His limbs were found somewhere else in the apartment.

Saleh was the son of Bangladeshi immigrants. “Fahim was a great leader, inspiration and positive light for all of us. Fahim's vision and belief in us will be with us forever, and we will miss him dearly,” Gokada said on its Twitter account.

The police said the motive for the murder is not known and no arrests had been made.

Saleh was last seen alive in CCTV footage on Monday evening, getting into the elevator in his apartment building. A man dressed in all black is seen entering the elevator with him.

Saleh had bought the Manhattan apartment, worth $2.2 million, recently.

Saleh was also a founding partner of Adventure Capital, which invests in start-ups in developing countries. PrankDial, a prank-calling app, was another venture he has invested in. Saleh founded Gokada in 2018 and had raised $5.3 million in venture capital in June 2019.
