A series of six bomb blasts hit Bangkok on Friday as the Thai capital hosted a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries attended by top diplomats. None of the blasts were close to the summit venue.

Four people were wounded and no casualties have been reported, according to Erawan Medical Centre.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blasts so far.

The first explosions were heard before 9am local time near central Bangkok. It was followed by blasts at a government complex hosting several ministries. Bomb disposal experts were deployed soon after.

Hospital authorities at the medical centre said that no one was serious and all are receiving medical

attention at hospitals.

The public has also been urged not to panic and the media have been asked to avoid speculating on the matter.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-Cha has reportedly ordered for an “immediate investigation”.

“I condemn those behind the situation which destroys peace and damages the country's image. I have ordered officials to take care of public safety and those affected,”Prayuth said on Twitter.
