The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has reported a deadly shipwreck off the coast Al Khoms in Libya, with 150 rescued and 150 feared dead.

The ship left Al Khoms with about 300 persons onboard according to early reports, which are still unsure of whether there was one ship or two. The details of how it sank are unknown, only that the survivors were rescued by local fisherman and returned to the coast by the Libyan coastguard.
Al Khoms is often a hub for migrants seeking to travel to Europe on unsafe boats, often just made out of rubber. In May, the UNHCR reported that 1,287 persons had been 'intercepted/rescued' by the Libyan Coast guard during 2019. On May 4, the organisation reported 161 'refugees and migrants were 'intercepted/rescued' in a night operation, with the persons disembarked in Al Khoms itself.
