Gulveer became the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's 5000m event, claiming bronze with a time of 13:24.95. Earlier on July 28, he had secured silver in the 10,000m, making him the first Indian to win medals in both long-distance events at the same edition of the Commonwealth Games.

In a thrilling finish on Saturday, Gulveer edged Kenya's Cornelius Kemboi by just 0.04 seconds. Kenya's Mathew Kipsang won gold in 13:23.61, while Australia's Ky Robinson took silver in 13:24.70.

Meanwhile, India's boxers delivered a historic performance, winning a record seven gold medals and powering the country to fourth place in the overall medal standings. India now has 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals, taking its overall tally to 39.

Australia continued to lead the medal table with 62 gold medals, followed by England (26) and Canada (18).

Of India's eight gold medals on Saturday, seven came from boxing, marking the nation's best-ever Commonwealth Games boxing campaign. The remaining gold was won by Soman Rana in the men's F57 para shot put.

The women's boxing team dominated the podium, with reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Asian Games medallist Preeti Pawar (54kg), Asian champion Priya Ghanghas (60kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg), and Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) all winning gold medals. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) added a silver to India's tally.

In the men's boxing events, Sachin (60kg) and Ankush (70kg) clinched gold medals, while Jadumani Singh (55kg) and Asian Games bronze medallist Narender Berwal (+90kg) finished with silver.

India also continued its impressive run in judo, with Unnati Sharma securing bronze in the women's 63kg category. Her medal was India's fourth in judo, completing the country's best-ever Commonwealth Games campaign in the sport.
