Cole Palmer unhappy at Chelsea means Manchester United, Bayern Munich to pounce?

Chelsea are struggling, and missing out on a Champions League slot could further alienate Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer may decide to leave Chelsea at the end of the season as he is "disillusioned" with the situation at Stamford Bridge, a leading UK tabloid said in a report. Manchester United are among the clubs he is considering for a potential switch, the report claimed.

The 23-year-old English attacker is contracted by the London club until 2033 but is frustrated by the change in Chelsea’s tactics, which he feels has denied him space on the pitch. Apart from United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also likely to initiate talks if the Englishman decides to bid adieu to London, the report said.

Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League and are at serious risk of missing out on a Champions League slot. As things stand, this could further frustrate Palmer, fuelling his push for an exit.

The absence of striker Nicolas Jackson is also a factor that has led to the situation, as new Chelsea recruit João Pedro's style does not exactly favour Palmer's performance, The Sun said in a report. Palmer had managed 18 goals and provided 14 assists when the African striker was in the side, while he is a mere shadow of that player today. Injuries have not helped either, and the Manchester City academy graduate may ultimately decide it is time for a fresh start.

The Week could not find a secondary article to back the claim that Palmer is interested in a switch to United. The midfield and defence departments are the known priorities of the Red Devils, although they would also like to have a left-winger to replace Marcus Rashford. With Bruno Fernandes' future still unresolved, it is too early to believe the rumour.

Meanwhile, with Brahim Díaz and Rodrygo Goes rumoured to be leaving the Bernabéu, one cannot blame reports for linking Madrid with Palmer. Furthermore, Michael Olise is set to leave Bayern and Harry Kane is not getting any younger. The thought of Jamal Musiala and Palmer playing together is intriguing, and the German champions are known for their willingness to splash money to acquire incredible talent.
