Manchester United can sign Tyler Adams, but midfielder to cost more than expected: Report

Tyler Adams of AFC Bournemouth will cost Manchester United no less than £45 million, a fresh report has claimed, only days after it was revealed that three Premier League giants were interested in the US international.

While Chelsea and Liverpool are also said to be interested in the talented central defensive midfielder, Manchester United are slightly ahead in talks, reports indicate. However, more suitors are expected to come knocking if Adams delivers at home in the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Earlier, it was reported that United were considering Adams as he may come cheaper than Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, and others. While those reports claimed that the American's price tag was in the range of £30 million, the new one claims that Bournemouth will not entertain any offer below £45 million for their man in form.

The 27-year-old Tyler Adams joined Bournemouth from Leeds in 2023 and thus has ample Premier League experience. He is known for his aggressive ball-winning style and can provide quality tackles, interceptions, and pressing. Chelsea are particularly interested in this side of his game, as these are the qualities they prefer as they look for an upgrade on Roméo Lavia.

Capable of operating as a right full-back when the need arises, Adams can play in a double pivot or as the deepest midfielder covering the defence. He often drops between centre-backs and can effectively stabilise the team in transition.

Bournemouth are reportedly interested in extending his current deal, which runs out in 2028, but have no illusions regarding his intention to make a switch. With Casemiro leaving and Manuel Ugarte failing to live up to expectations, Adams could thrive at Old Trafford as a total overhaul is underway at the club to bury a decade of mediocrity and return to elite levels.
