Manchester United flop André Onana, who is currently on a loan deal with Turkey's Trabzonspor, could well return to Inter Milan, a report claimed. Inter's Serie A rivals Juventus are also interested in the Cameroonian goalkeeper, it added.
André Onana arrived at Old Trafford from Inter Milan in 2023 but never lived up to expectations. While he was believed to be the sort of ball-playing goalkeeper who could do wonders for Erik ten Hag, serial mistakes and blunders made the African a costly burden for Manchester United instead.
While the Turkish side, who are currently third in the Süper Lig, are open to offering a permanent deal to Onana, he will only take a decision after considering his options in Italy where he proved his mettle once, CaughtOffside said in a report. With Mile Svilar likely to leave AS Roma at the end of the season, Onana's camp is keeping tabs on developments in the capital city as well, the report added.
However, Inter Milan, whose first-choice custodian Yann Sommer's deal expires in 2026, remain clear frontrunners to get Onana if he decides to return to Serie A, the report added. The Ajax academy graduate played 41 times for Inter since his arrival in 2022, winning an Italian Cup and an Italian Super Cup.
Onana arrived at Old Trafford on a five-year deal for £43.2 million and is expected to cost bidders no less than £25 million. With young Senne Lammens having proven his quality between the sticks, it is almost certain that the Red Devils will not think twice if an impressive bid is placed for the three-time Eredivisie winner.
Meanwhile, wins against City and Arsenal have put United in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League. And the thrilling performances have brought smiles back to the faces of fans.
