It is deadline day for Bangladesh cricket as far as T20 World Cup 2026 is concerned. With the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Bangladesh government firm in their stance of not travelling to India, the International Cricket Council has taken a massive decision in their general board meeting.

As per the decision taken after a voting system involving representatives of all full-member nations, the ICC has decided to replace Bangladdesh from T20 World Cup 2026 if they don't travel to India for the matches. Till this moment, there hasn't been a change in stance from the Bangladesh camp as they had constantly urged the ICC to relocate their matches to Sri Lanka.

The votes at the ICC meeting were dominantly in favour of replacing Bangladesh in such a scenario. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been given an extension of 24 hours to take a final call on this matter. If Bangladesh continue with their existing stance, they will be replaced and reports suggest that Scotland will take that spot in Group C.

There was late drama on Tuesday (January 20) with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) having written a letter to the ICC expressing their support for the BCB. There was also an alleged proposal from the PCB to host Bangladesh's matches but that would be a very surprising suggestion, because Pakistan themselves are playing their World Cup matches in Sri Lanka.

The only realistic possibility for Bangladesh to get their wish granted was if the ICC had made a last-minute change of heart to approve the relocation request. That, though, always seemed unlikely and now, the solution will be made public on Thursday (January 22) once the BCB inform their final stance to the ICC.
