Real Madrid are going through turbulent times after the recent sacking of Xabi Alonso who had taken over as manager at the start of the 2025-26 season. While there are plenty of theories about Alonso's fallout with the Real Madrid management and players, his personal equation with Vinicius Junior has been a major talking point.

That personal equation was visible to all and since Alonso's sacking, Vinicius has been in the eye of a storm among Real Madrid fans. During their La Liga fixture against Levante which Real Madrid won 2-0, the Brazilian was booed by the home fans at the Bernabeu. The incident triggered Vinicius emotionally and he was seen charging back to the dressing room.

Kylian Mbappe, who scored a penalty in the Levante win, addressed the media before Real Madrid's Champions League encounter against Monaco, scheduled for Tuesday (January 20). Dwelling on the Vinicius booing incident, Mbappe backed his teammate profusely and opined that the whole incident was unfair on a single player.

“What I didn’t like was that if there are boos, they should be for the whole squad. You shouldn’t single out one player", said Mbappe who stated that team was willing to take collective responsibility.

“It’s NOT Vini Jr fault. He's a fantastic player. He's an incredible guy, I'm lucky to know him and I'm very fond of him. We have to protect him better. So he's not alone against everyone. He's not alone at Real Madrid. We're all with him”.
