It was a star-studded day at the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 season on Boxing Day (December 26). Much like the opening round of the tournament, the matches featuring Delhi and Mumbai were the most awaited due to obvious reasons. With Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli available for Delhi, and Rohit Sharma for Mumbai, the buzz was expected to be high.
Unfortunately for Rohit, he couldn't replicate his first match heroics and fell for a golden duck. Mumbai, though, managed to get a strong total of 331 on the back of fifties from Sarfaraz Khan (55), Musheer Khan (55) and an exceptional innings from top-scorer Hardik Tamore (93*) who ensured that his team posted a strong total. Uttarakhand were never really in the chase and fell 51 short eventually.
Meanwhile, Kohli continued his excellent form with a 61-ball 77 while his skipper Pant struck a fluent 79-ball 70 as Delhi posted a competitive target of 254 on a tricky surface. It proved to be just enough as they beat Gujarat by just seven runs in a very tight contest on a surface where strokemaking wasn't as straightforward.

Meanwhile, Rinku Singh and Devdutt Padikkal continued to stack up their List A numbers by slamming centuries in their respective matches. Rinku slammed an unbeaten 106* off just 60 balls to give the finishing kick to Uttar Pradesh's massive total of 367. It proved to be one-way traffic as Chandigarh were shot out for a paltry score of 140.
Padikkal's hundred came in a chase, just like it did the other day but this time, Karnataka's target wasn't as huge. Karun Nair also slammed a hundred as Karnataka coasted past Kerala's total of 284 with ten balls to spare.
