The ongoing sexual assault case against a key Bangladeshi cricketer reached another tipping point on Thursday (December 11). The Gulshan Police Station has seen an official charge sheet filed against Bangladesh 'A' cricketer Tofael Ahmed Raihan, a pace bowling all-rounder by design.
According to reports, Tofael has been charged for alleged sexual assault of a woman after enticing her on the pretext of marriage. The allegations have been supported by strong evidence that include hotel booking records, medical examination records and other vital information related to the complainant.
"The charge sheet has been filed under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act," confirmed Md Samiul Islam, the investigating officer and Sub-Inspector of Gulshan Police Station.
The first complaint was filed on 1st August 2025 at the Gulshan Police Station. In her complaint, the woman revealed relentless sexual violence as a major offence against her. Reports state that Tofael first met the woman on 31st January 2025, and took her to a hotel where she was mentioned as his wife in the booking details.

Since then, Tofale allegedly met the woman on multiple occasions and had sexual encounters with the promise of marrying her soon. However, as days went by, the cricketer started to refuse the woman's marriage requests and this allegedly turned into repeated acts of sexual violence.
On September 24, Tofael was granted an anticipatory bail for six weeks with a condition that he had to surrender himself to Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal before the bail period ended. Tofael, however, didn't follow the Court orders. The next hearing is scheduled for December 30 when the detailed charge sheet shall be presented before the Court.
