The Oommen Chandy Memorial Ever-Rolling Trophy, awarded to the men's doubles winners of the Sree Chithira Thirunal State Ranking Men’s Tennis Tournament, was  unveiled by Chandy Oommen MLA in Kerala’s Kottayam on Saturday. The trophy has been instituted by the  Oommen Chandy Foundation and the Manna Charitable Trust in memory of the late former chief minister of Kerala.

“Oommen Chandy made valuable contributions to Kerala  tennis. It was his intervention that helped set up the three  tennis courts at Trivandum Tennis Club and four others at Kumarapuram Tennis Complex. It is to honour his memory and legacy that we decided to award the trophy for the Sree Chithira Thirunal State Ranking Tennis Tournament,” Chandy Oommen MLA, son of the deceased Congress leader, said at the event.

The trophy, designed by Vivek Gopan, was received by Kerala Tennis Association president Jacob C. Kallivayalil.

Manna Charitable Trust trustee and wife of the late Oommen Chandy, Mariamma Oommen, and managing trustee Dr. Maria Oommen, Trivandrum Tennis Association president S N Raghuchandran Nair, Kottayam Tennis Association president George Thomas, and  Ephinoah Oommen Richi, grandson of Oommen Chandy, were present at the event.
