After getting Trent Alexander-Arnold and almost having convinced Ibrahima Konate to follow suit, Real Madrid have set their sights on a third Liverpool player, a fresh report has claimed. Like the English right-back and French centre-back, the latest entrant to Real's shortlist is also a player who is central to Arne Slot's squad.
23-year-old Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has impressed the Los Blancos so much that they may consider him a priority in the summer, the report said. The sporting directorate, headed by Florentino Perez, has manager Xabi Alonso's approval to try and sign Gravenberch who played for Ajax and Bayern Munich before arriving at Anfield. His balance of physical strength and creativity is the factor that has reportedly impressed the Los Blancos.
Perez sees the former Jong Ajax star as a strategic investment and is not going to wait too long to make a call, Fichajes said in a report. Gravenberch is valued at around €65 million which is cheap considering his age and quality. However, the challenge will be to get him from Liverpool where he enjoys a near "untouchable" status. When Slot's side won the Premiership in the 2024-25 season, Gravenberch started all 34 Premier League games up to the point of glory. He played the most minutes during the campaign after captain Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
Since joining Liverpool, Gravenberch has made a total of 75 appearances across all competitions, managing 11 goals and 14 assists. Despite his physical style of play, he has only received 10 yellow cards and boasts a passing accuracy of 87% in addition to his great ball retention skills.
Real Madrid will bank on their brand value and the player's ambition to grow on the Champions League stage to boost a possible transfer deal, the Fichajes report added. Gravenberch's current contract will only run out in 2028 and even if the La Liga giants manage to find a way around to rope him in, it is definite that they will have to shell out a lot more than €65 million.
