Brazilian winger Antony is close to returning to the La Liga with the Real Betis on another loan stint. As per reports from Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old has expressed his preference of returning to the club where he made a stirring impact in the 2024-25 season. On Monday (August 25), representatives from Betis were at Old Trafford for a direct conversation with the United team to further the deal. Further discussions are expected on Tuesday with Betis determined to lock the deal before the transfer deadline ends.

After featuring in just four games with zero goal contributions for Manchester United in the Premier League 2024-25 season, Antony moved to Betis where he registered five goals and two assists in the 17 games that he featured in. More than the numbers, Antony's presence helped to strengthen Betis's attack and they also managed a prestigious sixth-place finish in the league, which meant qualification for the Europa League in 2025-26.

With the acquisitions of Bryan Mbeumo, Mattheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko, the transfer window has been a relatively expensive one for Manchester United who will also be hoping for the Antony loan deal to materialise. That would then help in easing the financial situation at the club, given Antony's high wages at the club. With the Brazilian having a strong rapport with Betis and their fans, this move seems set for a positive result, sooner than later.

In the 2024-25 season, the loan deal to Betis helped United to cover approximately 84 percent of his wages, amounting to an approximate of £140,000 per week and there was also a penalty fee included. If Antony featured in less than 15 games in the La Liga, Betis had to pay £479,000 as a penalty fee but eventually, the winger featured in 17 games.
