One of the keenly followed sub-plots of the EPL transfer window this year has been about Manchester United's ongoing tussle for a striker. Having pocketed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo with reasonable deals, the Red Devils are now hoping to add a clinical striker to their roster to complete a formidable attacking front-three for the 2025-26 season.

Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen were two of the big names that looked like potential options for Manchester United alongside Viktor Gyokeres. However, none of those worked out with the Swedish forward openly claiming that his interest was solely with Arsenal. It meant that Rubin Amorim's side had to look elsewhere for options. RB Leipzig's star striker Benjamin Sesko is now the frontrunner to make the move to Old Trafford with the Slovenian forward repeatedly mentioning his wish to join the Red Devils despite interests from numerous other clubs.
Last week, Newcastle United made a formal contact with Sesko's team and explained their potential project with the striker. If the 22-year-old accepts the project, the Magpies will then send an official bid for the 22-year-old. However, for now, Sesko is still awaiting Manchester United's move and that will depend on how they can off-load some of their current players to free up the finance pool. Antony, one of the club's biggest signings in recent years, has been offered a tempting sum from Al Nassr who are keen on signing the Brazilian to bolster their attacking strength. With the Old Trafford club having made their intentions of selling Antony clear, all eyes will be on whether they can make this deal with Al Nassr work.
Currently, there is no confirmation on the figure quoted by the Saudi club but Manchester United will need to act quickly if they are to then secure Sesko's services for the upcoming season. Newcastle's entry for the Slovenian is interesting, given that they have continued to maintain that star striker Alexander Isak is not for sale despite the Swedish man being a big target for EPL champions Liverpool. Sesko, possibly could be a long-term option given his age and prowess, with Isak certain to not stay for a considerable amount of time.
This week will be crucial to Sesko's future destination and importantly for Manchester United's chances of acquiring the RB Leipzig forward.
