Rishabh Pant was forced to prematurely leave the field after getting injured in the foot on the opening day of the 4th India vs England Test at Old Trafford.

Scoring 37 off 48 balls, the wicketkeeper-batter was trying pull a reverse sweep when he was struck with a painful blow from Chris Woakes. He missed the delivery and the ball hit his right foot, leaving him in agonising pain.

England appealed for LBW, but the umpire decided on not out. Though the review showed a faint under-edge and saved Pant, he had a swollen foot and was bleeding because of the injury. The physios checked on him during the drinks break as he could not stand properly. Unable to walk, he had to helped off the field on an ambulance cart.

It should be noted that Pant was already down with injury woes, with his fingers injured in the previous Test match at the Lord's. The injury is a serious concern for India as the side hopes to level the series with a victory in the match. India is trailing 2-1 against England after three matches. If the injury persists on the second day, Pant will be forced to sit out for rest of the match.

Ravindra Jadeja replaced Pant for the time being and joined Sai Sudharsan. However, Sudharsan who scored a remarkable 61 was removed by Ben Stokes.
