Uruguay crushed Brazil 4-2 in a penalty shootout on Saturday following a 0-0 draw. With this, they have entered the semifinals of the Copa America and will lock horns with Colombia.
Sergio Rochet thwarted Brazil's first penalty in Eder Militao's shootout while his teammate Douglas Luiz hit the post. Brazil keeper Alisson Becker denied Jose Gimenez but Manuel Ugarte buried the decisive spot kick as Uruguay advanced.
The game saw 41 fouls from the two teams with Uruguay's Darwin Nunez missing a close-range header. Brazil captain Raphinha's kick was saved by Uruguay goalkeeper Sergio Rochet.
Uruguay lost Nahitan Nandez in the second half after he was booted following a VAR review for a tackle on Rodrygo. However, Brazil failed to exploit the opportunity as Uruguay took the match to penalties.
