IPL 2024 final: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium and decided to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. It was not exactly how SRH wanted the batting powerplay to pan out as both the openers were dismissed cheaply.
SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, arguably the most destructive opening pair of this edition of the tournament, was up against Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora. The in-form Nitish Reddy and Rahul Tripathi too, were sent back within the first ten overs as KKR bowlers produced an outstanding performance.
Starc (2/14), Andre Russell (3/19) and Harshit Rana (2/24) were the most successful bowlers for the Knight Riders, as SRH simply failed to turn up for the big game. Pat Cummins, who made 24 runs from 19 balls was the side's topscorer.
Here is how Shreyas Iyer-led KKR bat in what is the lowest chase ever in the history of IPL finals.
Over 1:
Sunil Narine and Rahmanullah Gurbaz opened for KKR while Bhuvneshwar Kumar stepped up to bowl the first over for SRH.
FIRST RUN/BOUNDARY! After a dot ball, Rahmanullah Gurbaz found a boundary off the second ball of the innings.
