Japanse Daisuke Sakai scored his first goal for the club in the 32nd minute of the game but Kerala Blasters FC's hero for the day was their young goalkeeper Sachin Suresh who saved a spot-kick in the second consecutive ISL match. Sachin Suresh denied East Bengal's Brazilian C Silva not once but twice after the match referee signalled a retake after the initial strike.
The young Kerala custodian stopped the ball but the rebound reached Silva, who blasted the rebound over Sachin's bars. Minutes later, Dimitrios Diamantakos made it 2-0 for the away team at the Salt Lake Stadium after a deflected ball fell kindly at his feet inside the box. KBFC finished the game with 10 men as Diamantakos got a second yellow for taking off his jersey to celebrate the goal.
