The Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra will chase for clinching the elusive gold medal at the men’s javelin throw final to be held at National Athletics Centre, Budapest, Hungary on Sunday. Chopra had qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics by throwing his fourth career-best performance of 88.77m on Friday.
Chopra will be competing in the 12-man javelin throw final along with Indian athletes Manu D.P. and Kishore Jena.
The Olympic champion came close to becoming the first Indian world champion in any athletics discipline at the 2022 world championships in Oregon but eventually Chopra had to settle for a silver medal after finishing behind Grenada's Anderson Peters.
"I have competed much this year because I wanted to protect myself from injuries ahead of this competition..I'll give my everything at this year's world championships final on Sunday," said Neeraj.
