India won their opening match of the ICC Women's World Cup at Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, in style on Sunday by defeating Pakistan by 107 runs.

India, which won the toss, posted 244 for 7, thanks to a spirited lower-order charge. Pakistan managed to score 137 in 43 overs.

Pakistan's batters failed to get going in terms of either scoring runs or occupying the crease, as India took wickets at regular intervals. Opener Sidra Ameen (30) and bowler Diana Baig (24) were the only Pakistani players to cross over 20 runs. Left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the pick of the bowlers, scalping four wickets for 31 runs, while veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami bowled a tight spell, getting two wickets and conceding 26 runs in her 10 overs.

All-rounder Sneh Rana took two wickets for 27 to go with her score of 53 not out. Pooja Vastrakar was named player of the match for her 67, the highest score in the match.

India have now won all 11 of their matches against Pakistan in Women's World Cups. Pakistan next play Australia on Tuesday.
