The remaining matches of the current season of IPL will be held in the UAE later this year, the BCCI informed on Saturday. The matches will be held in the UAE considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year, the apex body announced on Saturday.

The decision was taken at a Special General Meeting (SGM) held virtually, where members unanimously agreed to resume IPL. The BCCI SGM further authorised the office bearers to seek an extension of time from the ICC to take an appropriate call on the hosting of ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

The current season had to be suspended earlier this month after the second wave of the COVID pandemic, ravaging across India, broke the IPL bio-bubble as close to half a dozen players from various teams tested positive for the virus.
