Paris Saint-Germain is still in talks with Neymar over a new contract, the club has stated, adding that it is “on track”, while discussions with Kylian Mbappe are still going on, sporting director Leonardo said.

“It is on the right track. But at the end of the day, a contract is signed when it's signed, and that's not yet the case,” Leonardo told France Bleu Paris radio station.

PSG’s Neymar and Mbappe are the world’s two most expensive players, and they will be out of contract in June next year, but the Ligue 1 champions are keen on holding on to the superstar duo.

“We have been talking (with Mbappe),” said Leonardo. “We’ve been talking for a long time. It’s always (getting) clearer. We’re going to arrive at the moment when we have to take a position, a decision. I think that we are getting closer and closer to that moment each time.”

Leonardo also confirmed that PSG want to extend the deals of Angel Di Maria and Juan Bernat, whose contracts expire at the end of this season.

“These are the four issues we are discussing. The idea is to get there as quickly as possible, because on our side, we have the intention to renew all four,” Leonardo added.

Neymar joined PSG in 2017 for a five-year deal in a record-breaking transfer of 222 million euros. Several media reports have suggested that an agreement with the Brazilian forward is near completion.

Mbappe moved to PSG from Monaco in a 180 million-euro transfer the same year as Neymar. As his contract comes to a close next year, there have been heavy speculation about his move to other high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid and Liverpool.
