Ten-man Kerala Blasters edged Jamshedpur FC 3-2 in a hard-fought contest in the ISL 2020-21, at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco.
Desperate for three points, the Men in Yellow started on the right note, taking the lead through Costa Nhamoinesu in the 22nd minute. But Jamshedpur FC restored parity through their talismanic striker Nerjus Valskis in the 36th minute. The Blasters had a couple of golden opportunities in the first half, but on both occasions Jordan Murray missed with only the goalkeeper to beat.
The second half saw Blasters defender Lalruathara pick up his second yellow card and get the marching orders. But the 10-man Blasters continued to attack, with Murray making amends by restoring the lead in the 79th minute. Three minutes later, a fumble from Jamshedpur custodian T.P. Rehenesh allowed Murray to make it 3-1.
Though Valskis pulled one back with a pin-point header in the 84th minute, the Blasters managed to keep their slender lead and take three points, thus pulling themselves from the bottom of the 11-team table to the 10th position.
