Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the first cricketer in history to score 20,000 international runs in a decade after he guided India to a series win against West Indies on Thursday.

Kohli has aggregated 20,018 out of his 20,502 runs across all formats in this decade.

The 30-year-old hit his second consecutive hundred―his 43rd in ODIs―to take India to a 2-0 series win at Queens Park Oval, Port of Spain. He remained unbeaten on 114. He also equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record for most hundreds (nine) against a single opposition in one-day internationals.

Following Kohli in the list for most international runs scored in a decade are Ricky Ponting (18,962 runs), Jacques Kallis (16,777), Mahela Jayawardene (16,304 ), Kumar Sangakkara (15,999), Sachin Tendulkar (15,962), Rahul Dravid (15,853), and Hashim Amla (15,185).

Kohli smashed 14 fours, enroute his 43rd hundred which came off 99 balls. He also equalled Ponting's record for most number of ODI hundreds scored by a captain.

Kohli came in to bat after India lost Rohit Sharma early in the 255-run chase. In the sixth over, Kohli was dropped on 11 by wicket-keeper Shai Hope. Had Hope taken the catch, the game could have possibly gone in favour of the West Indies.

The Indian skipper built a crucial 66-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan and also with Shreyas Iyer (partnership of 120 runs) later on. India chased down the revised target through Duckworth-Lewis method with 15 balls to spare.

The 2-0 win is India ninth bilateral ODI series victory against West Indies.
