Indian broadcaster pulls out of Pakistan Super League after Pulwama attack

IMG Reliance, the Indian broadcaster roped in to cover the Pakistan Twenty20 League in the UAE, has withdrawn from its contract as official production partner for the event following the deadly attack in Pulwama in Kashmir.

The company's withdrawal was confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday.

IMG Reliance, which was televising the PSL in UAE, made the announcement of their withdrawal from the contract after 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a suicide bombing in Pulwama district of Kashmir. The attack, one of the worst in recent times against security personnel, was claimed by Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad.

The PCB said an announcement of the new live broadcasters of the tournament would be made on Monday.

India has stalled all bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008. However, both countries have faced each other in international tournaments. They are scheduled to clash on June 15 in the ICC World Cup in England, but recent developments have prompted calls to call off the match.
