Usain Bolt is well on his way to chasing a boyhood dream, if reports are to be believed. The 100m world record-holder has been offered a two-year professional football contract in Malta after he scored two goals with Australia's Central Coast Mariners.
On trial with the A-League club, Bolt scored his first two goals in a pre-season game against Macarthur South West United in Sydney last week.
Malta club Valletta FC has made a formal offer to Bolt, Sydney's Daily Telegraph reported. Neither Bolt nor his agent have confirmed or denied the reports.
Since retiring from athletics last year, the eight-time Olympic champion has been pursuing his desire to become a professional footballer. Bolt had previously tried out with clubs in Germany, Norway and South Africa, but has so far struck out.
Bolt does not have a contract with the Mariners yet, but the club is waiting for confirmation from Football Federation Australia to contribute to a an offer worth AUD 3 million to the former sprinter.
