Two traditional powerhouses of Indian football—Bengal and Kerala—will lock horns now

The two traditional powerhouses of Indian football—Bengal and Kerala—will lock horns on April 1 in the final of the 72nd Santosh Trophy Championship, having overcome Karnataka and Mizoram respectively, in the semifinals in Kolkata.

V.K. Afdal's lone goal helped Kerala beat Mizoram 1-0. After a goalless first half, Afdal broke the deadlock in the 54th minute to score the winning goal, off a wonderful pass from the wings by Jithin M.S.

Though Mizoram dominated in all departments of the game, lack of poor finishing kept them at bay. Kerala will play defending champions Bengal in

the final who beat Karnataka 2-0.

Bengal continued their sublime form in today's match with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Karnataka. Bengal skipper Jiten Murmu put his team ahead in the 57th minute, while Tirthankar Sarkar put it beyond Karnataka's reach with a decisive free-kick in 90+2nd minute of the game.

With the win, the 32-time champion has qualified for the summit clash once again.
