This time’s Sony State of Play had a lot of surprises. We got announcements for the remake of the original God of War trilogy, a brand new 2D God of War game Sons of Sparta, the new X-Men fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a Castlevania game, a Demon Slayer game, and so much more!
The icing on the cake, however, was Keanu Reeves reprising the role of the legendary John Wick in a game that is yet to be titled!
PlayStation dropped an absolute cinematic gem of an announcement trailer in the early hours of Friday (in Indian Standard Time), and we are all stoked!
The graphics in the cinematic trailer look top-notch, and if it is anything like the recent big-ticket titles like the Avatar or the 007 games, we are all in for a treat!
The ‘Untitled John Wick Game’ is the product of Saber and Lionsgate coming together with franchise director Chad Stahelski.
According to Sony, the new game would feature an original script set in the John Wick timeline, "expanding on the franchise’s intricate lore with familiar characters fans already know, as well as completely new ones."
We also get a brand new gun fu combat system, some immersive driving experience, and of course, the thrill of playing the role of John Wick himself.
The game is expected to be a third-person action title, giving the limited gameplay we saw in the announcement trailer. However, we can also expect some first-person elements or a first-person toggle (remeber the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora incident?). Sony is yet to confirm that. For now, let’s wait and watch for a proper full gameplay and story trailers, like the one they dropped for 007.
