Vyommitra, the humanoid that will be part of the unmanned Gaganyaan mission, is in its final phase of its testing, revealed ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan. He said that 90 per cent work for the Gaganyaan is done and the mission will be accomplished by 2027.
Speaking on the sidelines of the preview of Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025), which will be held in New Delhi from November 3 to 5, the ISRO chief said over 200 projects have been completed so far in 2025.

Narayanan noted that one of the successful projects was the static test of the Kalam 1200 solid motor for the Vikram-1 launch vehicle developed by Skyroot, a Hyderabad-based space company. ISRO also transferred SSL small satellite launch vehicle technology to HAL this year, he added.
“The Chandrayaan 4 and 5 programs have been approved. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced Chandrayaan 5, which is a joint project with Japan. We are working on that now,” said Narayanan.
The ISRO chief revealed that the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite, which was launched in July 2025, will be declared fully operational in the next 10 to 15 days.
Talking about the startup sector, he said, “We are extremely happy when the private sector does well in the country. When the space startup ecosystem grows, we are sure the space ecosystem in the country is growing and the common man of country is benefiting.”
The Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2025) from November 3 to 5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, will be inaugurated by PM Modi. It will will focus on accelerating breakthroughs in key scientific domains and fostering collaborations across sectors.
