Apple's M5 chip is the talk of the town after the tech giant suddenly dropped the MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and the Vision Pro on Wednesday.

This comes barely a month after Apple's 'Awe Dropping' event, in which the iPhone 17 lineup was first unveiled to the world.

With the devices set to go on sale from October 22 onwards after Apple's silent "awe-dropping" this time, a question remains: Does the tech giant still have plans for a proper launch event?

Here are Apple's latest offerings:

iPad Pro M5

The M5 chip was the focus of the iPad Pro M5's release, with the tech giant focusing on enhancing performance for more intensive workflows, especially those using artificial intelligence.

The M5 chip, which features a 10-core CPU and improved GPU, is reportedly 3.5 times faster than the M4 chip.

The new iPad Pro is also the first Apple tablet to get the N1 wireless networking chip, which supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard.

It comes in two sizes: 11 inches and 13 inches, with the latter measuring just 5.1mm, making it thinner than the iPhone Air. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at Rs 99,900, while the 13-inch variant starts at Rs 1,29,900.

MacBook Pro M5

Another of Apple's offerings enhanced with the M5 chip—containing a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine—the MacBook Pro M5 promises up to 1.6 times faster graphics performance than its predecessor.

This is in addition to Apple's claim that the M5 chip can perform 3.5 times better than the M4.

The latest MacBook M5 runs on macOS Tahoe, bringing a new Liquid Glass UI that offers better customisation possibilities.

The MacBook Pro M5 also offers faster SSD performance, 24 hours of battery life, and 150GB/s unified memory bandwidth at a price of Rs 1,69,900.

Vision Pro M5

After a two-year wait, the tech giant is ready to roll out a refreshed version of the Vision Pro headset, which also gets the M5 chip treatment and runs on VisionOS 26.

The M5 chip is said to have improved display rendering (10 per cent more than the previous Vision Pro) on the headset, seeing how its GPU offers better, third-generation ray tracing.

It also comes with a dual knit band—basically an upper and back strap combination— to better sit on your head.

The Vision Pro also offers support for over one million apps—including about 3,000 apps specially built for visionOS—and better home screen customisation.

Perhaps most importantly, the Vision Pro M5 has an R1 chip that processes input from the headset's multiple cameras, sensors, and microphones, to aid various immersive apps, or provide a better real-time view of the world while streaming.

Priced at $3,499, the Vision Pro can be purchased in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the UAE, the UK, and the US. No details of an India release have come out yet.
