Dr. Avtar Singh aims to bring the latest technology for better treatment

Technology! It changed our lives like never before. From mobile phones to AI robots, they are rewriting human lifestyles. However, when it comes to medicine, there are still areas deprived of advanced treatment. But individuals like Dr. Avtar Singh are trying their best to bring the latest technology into India's medical sphere and provide better treatment to people.

It was in the year 1990 when Dr. Avtar Singh started his career by co-founding Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar, Punjab. With the aim of keeping the flag of the city high in the country and also bringing India into the mainstream of orthopaedic work in the world, Dr. Avtar Singh went on to explore more and more of the updated technologies in the medical field.

His primary field of interest is arthroplasty, and treatment of neglected and complicated trauma. Dr. Avtar Singh first introduced interlocking technology to cure fractures. He then adopted Navigation Assisted Knee Replacement in early 2006. To be precise, he was the first surgeon in North India to use navigation technology.

Dr. Avtar Singh was the pioneer in starting Interlocking Nailing in his region, and with his team, he handled around 7000 to 8000 orthopaedic operations every year. He also adopted Robotic Assisted Knee Replacement in 2018 and, yet again, he was the first in North India to do something like that. Recently, Dr. Avtar Singh performed more than 2000 robotic assisted knee replacements.

Speaking of how technology is impacting the medical field, Dr. Avtar Singh says, "Technological advancement in the medical field is a great boost. It is and will continue to bring a better quality of treatment for patients. It has brought new medical procedures that help in treating even critical medical conditions."

Dr. Avtar Singh's co-founded hospital has turned out to be a trusted destination for the best and most advanced orthopaedic treatment centres in the region. It's becoming a hotspot for medical students to study in post-graduation and super specialisation with multiple DNBS and fellowships in various fields of medicine and surgery.
