Tech giant Google has announced that it would set up its first Artificial Intelligence lab in India in Bengaluru. The AI research centre, called Google Research India, will be led by scientist Manish Gupta, said Jay Yagnik, Vice President and Engineering Fellow at Google.
More details of the centre will be revealed in the coming months, Yagnik said during the annual ‘Google For India’ event in New Delhi.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are key areas of interest for Google. As a result, the company have set up AI labs across the world, including Accra, Tokyo, Montreal, New York, Paris, Zurich and Tel Aviv among others.
Google will collaborate with universities, research organisations and policy makers to deploy AI to solve challenges in various sectors, including healthcare, education and agriculture.
