Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States that any American soldier entering Iranian soil will be captured or killed, as tensions escalate over potential renewed US combat operations. Amid reports of possible ground conflict and regional expansion, Iranian officials have signaled that Tehran could widen its response across the Middle East, targeting neighboring territories and critical infrastructure to deter Washington. Furthermore, analysts believe this aggressive rhetoric may serve to distract from mounting domestic economic pressures exacerbated by tightening US sanctions.

As the US mulls restarting its combat operations against Iran, Tehran has issued a warning to the Trump administration that any soldier who enters Iranian soil will either be captured or killed. The warnings come amid reports that Iranian officials are considering sending forces into neighbouring countries if the United States launches new strikes.

Mohsen Rafiqdoost, the first minister in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, said a ground war was possible. "This possibility exists, but America cannot wage a ground war because its feet are in the water. We have the world's strongest ground force. If American forces want to enter Iranian soil, they will either be captured or killed. Of course, this is a stupidity that God forbid they commit," Rafiqdoost added.

He also touched upon whether Iran would launch a preemptive strike. "If a bottleneck arises, we will definitely attack,” Rafiqdoost added.

According to a report that appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Iranian officials have warned regional governments, both publicly and privately, that Tehran would widen its response across the Middle East if US attacks resume. Tehran could also target Saudi oil facilities besides the regional data centres and internet cables.

Iran's limited ability to counter advanced American fighter jets, high-altitude bombers, and cruise missiles has led Tehran to increasingly threaten a broader response to deter Washington. People familiar with Tehran's warnings say that Iranian officials have raised the possibility of Iranian forces entering the territory of neighbouring countries in response to possible new US attacks.

Iran's top national security official, Mohsen Rezaei, warned on Sunday that the United Arab Emirates could be targeted.

Iran has also warned the mediators that it may carry out more severe attacks against US military forces, including attempts to sink US warships and kill or injure their crew members. Satellite images indicate activities underway aimed at strengthening Iran's nuclear facilities and border positions.

Western analysts believe the government's aggressive tone could also distract attention from the escalating economic problems facing the Iranian people, which have been exacerbated by the tightening of US sanctions and pressure on airlines to halt flights to Iran, along with the tightening of the blockade.
