An Israeli Defense Forces report, as cited by Israeli media, indicates that Hamas is actively preparing for a renewed conflict with Israel by producing hundreds of explosives and anti-tank weapons monthly, alongside recruiting young terrorists and rehabilitating its underground infrastructure in Gaza, including restarting training for its elite Nukhba force. The IDF's military intelligence and Southern Command have reportedly warned their Chief of Staff that Hamas is leveraging the current period to rebuild its capabilities and fighting formations, with the IDF believing it should resume offensive actions despite US opposition favoring the status quo and President Trump's peace initiative. Concurrently, analyses of captured Hamas documents suggest that the group's decision to launch the October 7th attack was prompted by concerns over Saudi-Israeli normalization, leading the militant wing to accelerate its plans for a large-scale offensive.

Hamas is preparing for a renewed war with Israel and is producing hundreds of explosives and anti-tank weapons every month, according to Israeli media quoting an Israeli Defence Forces report. A warning about the Gaza-based Palestinian militant group’s alleged activities was given by the IDF’s military intelligence directorate and the Southern Command to its Chief of Staff, Lt.Gen. Eyal Zamir.

As per the report, Hamas is recruiting terrorists aged 18 to 22 and is in the process of rehabilitating its underground infrastructure throughout the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli media KAN. The group has also restarted training for members of its elite Nukhba force.

The report also said Hamas was rebuilding underground infrastructure across Gaza that was destroyed by the IDF over two years of war with the terror group, and is trying to smuggle drones and communication devices from Sinai, the report added.

“Hamas is strong on the ground,” the officers reportedly warned Zamir. “Nobody is threatening it, and the organisation is unwilling to give up control of Gaza.” The message conveyed is that Hamas is taking advantage of the period to restore capabilities and rebuild its fighting formations.

The report also added that the IDF believes it must restart its offensive against Hamas despite the US being opposed to this option. Instead, it said, Washington prefers to preserve the current status quo in the Gaza Strip while continuing to advance US President Donald Trump’s Peace initiative.

Meanwhile, an Israeli media outlet quoting analysts claimed the decision by the Hamas leadership in the Gaza Strip to launch the Oct. 7, 2023, invasion and massacre in southern Israel was driven by concerns about Saudi-Israeli normalisation.

The report that appeared in JNS quoted researchers who analysed captured Hamas  documents. While Hamas prepared for a final war of annihilation against Israel, the pace at which diplomatic negotiations between Tel Aviv and Riyadh prompted the Hamas military wing to accelerate its timetable, according to the researchers.
