The United Arab Emirates has announced the phased launch of Etihad Rail, a new high-speed passenger train network designed to connect all seven emirates. The first passenger service will commence on June 30 between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah station, with additional stations in Dubai and Al Dhaid opening on September 30, Al Dhafra on December 30, and Sharjah on March 30, 2027, ultimately linking 11 cities and towns across 900km. Ticket booking for the Abu Dhabi-Fujairah route, which will feature Comfort and Premium classes starting at AED 55 and AED 120 respectively, will be available through the Etihad Rail app and website from June 23. The fleet consists of 13 trains, each capable of reaching 200 km/h and accommodating up to 400 passengers with amenities like Wi-Fi and power outlets.

The UAE authorities have announced the launch date of Etihad Rail, the high-speed rail network connecting all seven emirates. The first phase of the passenger train service will begin on June 30 between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah station.

The announcement was made as Sheikh Khaled, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, inaugurated the new passenger train station in Mohammed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi.

Two stations - the Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid Train Station - will open with the official launch on September 30, the authorities said. The third station at Al Dhafra will be opened on December 30, while the opening of Sharjah Train Station is scheduled for March 30, 2027.  

Besides the Dubai, Sharjah, and Al Dhafra, Al Dhaid stations, the Etihad rail will also have stations at Al Dhannah, Al Sila, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa, Mohammed bin Zayed city and Al Faya in Abu Dhabi, Al Hilal in Fujairah, University City in Sharjah and Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

The majority of the stations will be located in the Abu Dhabi emirate, with a further station in Sharjah and Fujairah.

Etihad Rail’s passenger trains are split into two classes: Comfort and Premium. The ticket price on the inaugural Abu Dhabi-Fujairah route will start from AED 55 in  Comfort Class and AED 120 in Premium Class. Customers can book their tickets, with a variety of options available, through the Etihad Rail app and website starting from June 23.

Spanning 900km, the Etihad Rail passenger train will link 11 cities and towns across all seven emirates. The passenger rail fleet comprises 13 trains, each with a capacity of up to 400 passengers. The trains offer Wi-Fi, power at every seat, overhead storage, space for larger baggage and accessibility features. Each train can travel at speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour.
