US President Donald Trump has once again said that the war against Iran will end soon, claiming this time that there is "practically nothing left to target" in the country.

"Little this and that… Any time I want it to end, it will end," Trump said while speaking to Axios.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz saud that the joint campaign with the US in Iran will continue "as long as necessary".

This comes a day after US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said on Tuesday that it would be "the most intense day of strikes against Iran".

Trump's latest statement also contradicts what Hegseth said earlier. The war secretary said the goals of the US campaign have not changed, and are being executed with "ruthless precision."

Listing the goals, Hegseth said the priority will be to destroy the missile stockpiles, missile launchers, their defense industrial base and their navy. And the final goal is to “permanently deny Iran nuclear weapons", he added.

The mixed messages has been continuing ever since the war erupted on February 28.

Last, Trump said that he would not stop the war until Iran surrenders unconditionally.

On Monday, he contradicted himself saying, "We could call it a tremendous success right now. Or we could go further. And we're going to go further."
