The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned Iran’s missile strikes on its territory, calling them a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a clear breach of international laws.
The UAE summoned Iran’s ambassador, Reza Ameri, and lodged a formal protest against Tehran’s “terrorist attacks and assaults.”
According to an official statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the targeting of UAE territory constitutes not only a violation of its sovereignty but also a threat to national security and a breach of international conventions and resolutions.
Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar highlighted that civilian sites—including residential areas, airports, ports, and service facilities—were targeted in the attacks, endangering innocent lives.
Marar reiterated the UAE's stance that it would not allow its territory to be used in any military action against Iran. He further stressed that Iran’s strikes violate the principles of good neighborliness, the Charter of the United Nations, and undermine the UAE’s consistent efforts toward de-escalation and peaceful solutions with Tehran.
The minister warned of serious repercussions on bilateral relations, with a direct impact across political, economic, and commercial levels.
Over the past two days, Iranian strikes on the UAE have resulted in three fatalities and 58 injuries, including an Indian national.
In Abu Dhabi, debris from an intercepted drone damaged a building complex housing the Israeli embassy and several other international missions, causing minor injuries to a woman and her child.
In Dubai, two people were injured after shrapnel from drones fell over two houses when they were intercepted. Dubai international airport, its landmark Burj Al Arab hotel and man-made Palm Jumeirah Island all suffered damage overnight.
The UAE’s Defence Ministry confirmed on Sunday that it had intercepted 165 ballistic missiles, destroying 152 of them, while 13 were drowned in the sea. The Ministry also reported the destruction of two cruise missiles and the downing of 506 Iranian drones out of a total of 541.
In the wake of the attacks, the UAE announced the closure of its embassy in Tehran and the withdrawal of its ambassador from Iran.
