US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States would intervene if Iranian authorities violently kill peaceful protesters.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said,” If Iran shoots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J.”

A US official told Iran International that the latest protests in the country are an expression of the people’s  'understandable anger' at their government’s failures in a written statement on Thursday.

The statement said Tehran has neglected the country’s economy, agriculture, water, and electricity “for decades” to “squander billions on terrorist proxies and nuclear weapons research,” while also carrying out acts of "terrorism against the United States and its allies."

The protests in Iran have entered the fifth day with the confirmed deaths of three protesters: Dariush Ansari Bakhtiarvand in Fooladshahr, Amir-Hessam Khodayarifard in Kuhdasht, and Shayan Asadollahi in Azna.

A total of seven people were killed in Iran as the protests against the ailing economy, with inflation, collapse of the currency, spread.

Pro-monarchy slogans were reportedly shouted in the city of Qom, a stronghold of Shia clerics and the Islamic Republic.

Slogans like “Death to the Dictator” and “Death to Khamenei” were also heard in cities.
