Come New Year's Eve, UAE citizens and expatriates will be treated to high-precision fireworks in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi. The fireworks are part of the Sheikh Zayed Festival.
On New Year's Eve, onlookers will be treated to a non-stop 62-minute fireworks display as we welcome 2026. The entry fee is just Dh10.
The colours of the fireworks will reflect the UAE flag while the sequences are synchronised with Emirati music. The carefully choreographed event will be divided into several segments, including fireworks and drone displays. It begins at 8pm and continue until midnight.
Sheikh Zayed Festival will see around 6,500 drones treating the spectators with three-dimensional light formations in the sky. Complementing the fireworks, these drone displays will take the viewers through Emirati heritage and UAE identity in the form of a visual narrative.
Some of the prominent spots for spectators to enjoy the visual delight include Majlis zones, the Camping Village and the Heritage Village.
Besides fireworks and drones, there will also be live performances, cultural activities, international pavilions and amusement rides at Al Wathba venue.
The planning for the much-anticipated fireworks starts well in advance to ensure seamless coordination between fireworks teams, drone operators and safety officers, according to organiser Mohammed Al Marzooqi, reported the Khaleej Times.
