The Abu Dhabi Natural History Museum opens breathtaking windows into the rare and remarkable moments that trace the story of life on Earth—from its earliest beginnings to the present day. The museum presents an extraordinary narrative spanning nearly 13.8 billion years, from the birth of the universe and the emergence of life to the wonders of the modern world.
Designed as a centre for research, experimentation, and discovery, the museum explores what humanity has already learned about Earth and life—and what still remains to be discovered. From the age of dinosaurs to the many transformations the planet has witnessed, the museum houses priceless remnants of Earth’s long and dramatic history.

Many of these exhibits have been collected from countries such as the United States and Australia. A remarkable highlight is the recreation of Abu Dhabi as it was seven million years ago, when the region was rich in natural resources, flowing water, forests, and wildlife. Today’s desert landscape once flourished with rivers and dense vegetation—an astonishing truth revealed through these preserved remains.
The Abu Dhabi Natural History Museum is the largest museum of its kind in the Middle East. For the first time in the world, the fossil remains of sauropod dinosaurs—the long-necked giants—are displayed here. These towering creatures greet visitors right at the museum entrance.
The museum also serves as a historical archive of Abu Dhabi and the wider Middle East, bringing together science, culture, and heritage under one roof.
Among its most spectacular attractions are the fossil displays of Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops. Even the bite marks from their ancient battles are preserved and showcased, offering visitors a rare glimpse into prehistoric conflicts frozen in time.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism, described the museum as a place “where knowledge and wonder come together.” He said the museum tells the story of the Earth through the lens of Arabia and adds a powerful new dimension to the cultural heritage of the Arab world. It ignites curiosity, encourages a love for knowledge, and raises profound questions about our planet and our future.
The museum also reminds visitors of the urgent challenges of climate change and environmental conservation. One of its key goals is to inspire the younger generation to take leadership in protecting nature and shaping the future. By sparking passion among youth, the museum aims to nurture tomorrow’s scientists and researchers and establish itself as a major global hub of knowledge and innovation.
