Tabby app

The UAE Ministry of Finance on Tuesday said the residents can now pay government fines and fees in monthly instalments through Tabby, a payment app.

The facility, which is extended to all federal government entities, is part of the ministry's initiative to integrate the latest fintech features to ease customer experience and help them adhere to financial obligations to the government in a secure and flexible manner.

"(We) have reached an agreement (with Tabby) ensuring the best possible commission rate, which will only be borne by the customer if they choose to use this service to pay federal service fees and fines," the finance ministry stated.

Besides regular payments, Tabby also uses a "buy now, pay later" model, allowing customers to pay in instalments. However, Tabby will pay the full amount of the fines or fees to the government departments. This will be gradually paid to the app by the customer over several months.

Tabby co-founder and CEO Hosam Arab said the company's mission always focused on providing customers with greater financial flexibility. "We are proud to support the Ministry of Finance in making federal services more accessible across the UAE," Arab said.

Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, MoF assistant undersecretary for Government Budget and Revenue Sector, said the finance ministry is "committed to adopting innovative solutions and strategic partnerships that contribute to building an integrated and sustainable financial infrastructure."
