A major fire was reported at a construction site in Abu Dhabi's Yas Island on Friday afternoon. According to the police department, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence have reached the site but the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
The area where the fire broke out was cordoned off by the Abu Dhabi Police. Travel restrictions have been imposed as a part of the firefighting in the area, reports said.

Videos on the internet showed large dark clouds emanating from a giant building under construction that remained engulfed by flames. THE WEEK, however, couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the video.
