Parkin PJSC, Dubai's largest operator of paid public parking facilities, confirmed that a new variable pricing tariff will come into effect from April 4. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has written to the company concerning the approval for the implementation that would see peak pricing being applied 6 out of the 14 chargeable hours per day. However, parking charges for off-peak hours will remain unchanged, Arab media reports said.

Here are five things Dubai residents would like to know about the Parkin PJSC announcement regarding the revised parking fee system:

1. Dubai's public parking is classified into four tariff zones – A, B, C and D – with premium and standard zones for both on and off-street parking. The period between 8:00 am to 10:00 am and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm are considered peak hours and a premium parking rate of UAE Dirham 6 per hour will be charged across all public parking zones during these hours on six days of the week except Sundays.

2. Residents have been exempted from the variable pricing tariff on all public holidays, Khaleej Times said in a report.

3. As mentioned earlier, Paid public parking in Dubai is mainly divided into four different zones: A, B, C and D. These places will now be called AP, BP, CP, and DP respectively as Parkin PJSC reportedly decided to update zone codes. Zones categorised under B and D will continue to offer a daily rate option for the users. The daily tariff for premium parking will be Dh40 in Zone B and Dh30 in Zone D, the Khaleej Times said.

4. According to Parkin, the peak pricing for standard parking spaces in zones A to D will apply for six out of the 14 chargeable hours of a day. During the off-peak hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, the parking charges will reportedly remain unchanged.

5. Under the revised rate, parking charges in premium areas are likely to become:

  • Dh12 for 2 hours from Dh5
  • Dh18 for 3 hours from  Dh8
  • Dh24 for 4 hours from  Dh 11
