Delhi Police to track 'nefarious elements' trying to disrupt INDIA bloc rally on Nov 1, install 250 CCTV cameras
The INDIA bloc's 'Chalo Dilli March' against the alleged "vote theft" will be held from 10 am to 5 pm
Delhi Police has implemented heavy security measures, including the installation of hundreds of CCTV cameras and the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces, at Ramlila Maidan ahead of the INDIA bloc's Chalo Dilli March scheduled for November 1. The political rally protesting alleged vote theft has sparked a war of words, with opposition leaders urging widespread public participation despite alleged travel restrictions, while the ruling BJP has strongly denied these claims and accused the opposition of fabricating stories.

Delhi Police on Friday said it has deployed extensive police personnel and installed 250 CCTV cameras at Ramlila Maidan and surrounding areas, ahead of the INDIA bloc rally on November 1.
The INDIA bloc's 'Chalo Dilli March' against the alleged "vote theft" will be held from 10 am to 5 pm. It will culminate at the Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi on November 1.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir said police will monitor nefarious elements trying to disrupt the rally. “The sensitivity is enhanced in a way that we have to keep a check on some nefarious elements who may try to disrupt the whole rally. That is one angle that the police are working on,” the officer said.
"We have our local police also stationed here. We'll also get the help of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), which will be coming in to assist us during this arrangement,” he added as the central government has extended the deployment of 270 CAPF companies in Delhi till November 16.
Pointing out that the police are in touch with the organisers, Rajbir said, “This is not the first time that a political rally is happening here. Ramlila Maidan is generally known for holding political rallies. We've had three or four political rallies this year itself. Those have been organised by different political parties.”
According to sources quoted by PTI, the extension of CAPF deployment comes amid concerns about possible flash protests by certain outfits and for maintenance of law and order during the ongoing festival season. A similar extension had been sanctioned twice previously in October itself amid protests by the Cockroach Janta Party, the Left parties and other outfits.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday urged people to join the march, asking them not to worry about police lathis. Claiming the BJP will not have "the guts to try any of their antics", he urged student groups, regardless of their political affiliation, to join it.
"Our party people and common people are being stopped. You watch what happens at Ramlila Maidan and you will understand what is happening in the country. There is huge anger and emotional pain because millions are being disenfranchised," Rahul said.
On Friday, the BJP slammed Rahul for claiming that Home Minister Amit Shah is trying to stop people from coming to Delhi for the rally. "Who has been stopped? Who stopped whom and where? Show proof," said BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra.
"Had they had evidence that people are being stopped and roads have been closed, then would they not have shown videos today? The truth is that they have not been able to make arrangements the kind they had imagined. So, they are fabricating stories that people are being stopped from reaching here," he added.
