Heavy rains and strong winds lashed parts of Odisha as the very severe cyclonic storm Arnab moved towards the east coast, prompting the IMD to issue orange and yellow warnings across multiple districts. The cyclone is expected to make landfall between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh with maximum sustained wind speeds of up to 125 kmph. In response to the looming threat, the Odisha government has deployed NDRF, ODRAF, and fire service personnel to vulnerable locations while closing schools in several southern districts. Authorities have also suspended all boating activities in Chilika Lake to ensure safety as residents move their vessels away from the shore. Furthermore, the weather system is projected to bring unseasonal rainfall and a drop in daytime temperatures to parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh in the coming days.
