BJP candidate Narendra Prasad Singh's win in Tirhut, which is yet to be formally announced, comes after a triangular contest against independent candidate Bhushan Jha and the CPI’s Sanjay Singh.

Results for some of the heavily contested eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) elections were released on Tuesday, which includes Narendra Prasad Singh's win for the BJP in the Tirhut Teachers' constituency.

Singh's win with 2,945 votes, which is yet to be formally announced, comes after a triangular contest against independent candidate Bhushan Jha with 2,351 votes and CPI’s Sanjay Singh in third.

The numbers also show that the saffron party candidate N.K. Yadav is leading in the Kosi Graduates' constituency by about 1,500 votes, whereas in the Darbhanga Teachers' seat, the Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) had been leading the competition.

However, local media reports say that JSP candidate Suresh Rai's 387-vote margin with 2,574 votes is narrowing, with his Congress contender Madan Mohan Jha in second place with 2,187 votes. Ramdev Rai of the BJP is in the third place with 1,498 votes.

Independent candidate and BJP rebel Rahul Raj won the Saran Teachers' constituency after earlier leading with 2,723 votes, with NDA candidate just behind him at 2,440 votes, and Afaq Ahmad of the JSP in third with 1,999 votes.

The final results for the Patna Teachers' and Graduates' constituencies' results are expected after 10 PM. The BJP's Sarvesh Kumar won the Darbhanga Graduates' seat after defeating the RJD's Anil Jha, while the Tirhut Graduates' seat trends show independent candidate Banshidhar Brajwasi in the lead.

Of the two Patna seats, the Graduates' constituency spot is the most highly contested one, for which counting is already underway.

This seat sees the JD(U)'s current MLC, Neeraj Kumar, defend his current MLC post against the JSP's Anuj Singh. The latter is backed by expelled JD(U) MLA Anant Singh, whose expulsion came after he questioned Kumar's candidature.

Though Kumar had earlier claimed he would win this seat by a large margin, this was overturned by the RJD's Dilip Patel, who managed to establish a slim lead of 16 votes.

The Patna Teachers' seat, meanwhile, sees the BJP's Naval Kishore Yadav holding a 145-vote lead over the RJD's Sanjeev Singh.

As many as 150 candidates are in the fray for the eight Bihar MLC seats, for which the counting of votes began on Tuesday morning at 8 AM.
